About Profile of an Entrepreneur: Ignite Your Passion & Power of Why – Discover if a Home Business is Right for You

“Knowing what you want is the first and, perhaps, the most important step toward the development of persistence. A strong motive forces you to surmount many difficulties.”

The Profile: Defining Characteristics & Strengths of an Entrepreneur

In our profile, the usual identifying features do not really stand out.  The individual portrayed could be male or female, young or old.  Most striking in this picture are not the contours, size or shape of the face, but rather the character and the qualities which are evident within the individual’s expression.

An entrepreneur is a person of vision; someone who takes action, and who has palpable drive, initiative, focus and persistence.  In broad strokes, I’d like you to imagine someone who consistently calls forth the courage to take risks; and who continuously has the conviction to move forward without excuse or exception, despite all odds and obstacles.

In our cover silhouette can you envision determination set in the jaw; and eyes that are fixed on something not just spatially in the distance, but into the future, as well?  There is confidence in the posture; and I’d also like you to imagine a nimble quality that permeates the pose, and renders the person both forthright and agile.

Does this profile describe you?  Can you see aspects of yourself in this description?  Do you possess the qualities and the character portrayed in this brief, biographical sketch? If not now, would you like to be able to answer, “Yes” at some point?  Can you see yourself having the aspiration to fit this description?

Obviously, we are not born with these attributes. We must desire, aspire and work to develop them. You will need to be able to see and define your strengths as they relate to the requirements of building and running a business. Among these qualities, gifts and skills you will want to communicate effectively; be able to establish rapport and trust with individuals whom you haven’t previously met; build long-term relationships; be able to tell your story with passion and enthusiasm, present the benefits of your products; and effectively manage your time.

Take a moment and think about your entrepreneurial growth areas as well as your existing strengths.  Does this list scare and excite you?  Do you see areas where you will need to spend time learning and practicing?  Are there areas where you are very comfortable? I hope so. The great news is that you can earn while you are learning! And while the above characteristics and strengths are important, there is one attribute that is paramount!  With this one quality your shortcomings become exciting challenges.
